If you have landed on this section of my site, then you most likely have received a formal invitation to be a photographic subject. This page is to provide background on what to expect during a session and how the whole process works!
Most likely if I have come to you, I have a shoot in mind for you, but first we have to build a rapport! The best results comes when we are comfortable working together. Many of the above images are with people I had known for some time before we worked together as model and photographer. What I like to do is what I refer to as a duffel shoot. This is where you throw a bunch of your favorite bits of wardrobe into a big duffel bag, meet me on location, and we shoot for a while.
Answers to Some Common questions you might have!
"Can I bring a friend?" - Of course! You are more than welcome to bring a friend. If you are under 18, you are actually required to bring a parent or legal guardian
"I have never done modeling before, how will I know what do do?" - Part of the skill of photography is knowing how to make people feel comfortable and get them posed in front of the lens in a flattering manner. That is what I do.
"I have never felt like I take good pictures" - Again, this is were my skill as a photographer comes in to play. I will analyze all aspects of you, the location, the wardrobe, etc, and assemble well thought-out photos.
"How will I change wardrobe in the field?" - We have invested in a portable changing tent allowing the ability for you to change or adjust your outfit in privacy.
"How long does a modeling session usually last" - For a duffel shoot, plan on 1-2 hours, for a formally planned shoot, plan on 1-4 hours depending on the complexity.
"How do I need to prepare for a session for hair, makeup, etc?" - For a duffel shoot, no major prep is required other than your normal daily hair and makeup style. For planned sessions, we will bring in Hair and Makeup specialists to get you ready.
What can you expect?
First and foremost, I set out to make the whole experience fun for everybody. With that being said, I do have some simple rules:
1. I do not allow ANY illegal drugs, alcohol use, marijuana or tobacco products at any sessions or pre-session meetings.
2. We will not trespass on any property where we do not have property owner permission.
3. Any illegal activity will be reported to the appropriate authorities.
Plan to show up a bit early! 10-15 minutes is normally a good amount of time to be early. This allows you to take in the situation and relax before we get started.
We aim to make the session as relaxing as possible. As such, I will have at least 1 assistant with me, and you are welcome to bring whomever you like as a chaperone!
Depending on the type of session, we may wrap early, or if we get inspired, we might shoot for some time! When we know, we know.
Above all, I am conservative. I will never expect you to dress in any outfit more revealing than a conservative one or two piece swim suit (and that's only if you are doing a swimming theme!). I do not do boudoir, pinup, or overtly sexualized imagery and therefore, you will never be asked to participate in such activities while being a GSP subject.
Above all, the goal is to have fun and create some quality photos!
